The Patrol Division is the most visible element of the Police Department.  Patrol is made up of 8 Full Time Officers and 6 Reserve Officers.  Currently officers work 12 hours shifts to provide as much coverage as possible.  Patrol officers are the first responders to a wide variety of calls varying from simple theft to more complex and dangerous crimes such as robbery or assault. Patrol officers are routinely involved with:

  • Enforcement of laws
  • Apprehension of suspects
  • Taking reports
  • Conducting criminal investigations
  • Traffic enforcement
  • Crime prevention
  • Focused or special patrols

The Crandall Police Department is making great strides to keep up with technological advances.  Patrol officers now have Mobile Data Computers (MDC) in their vehicles.  These computers link the officers to the Communications Center in the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department, connecting them to the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and the state and federal crime computers. Patrol vehicles are also equipped with Mobile Video Recorders to enhance patrol functions such as capturing a suspect’s behavior and reinforcing the officer’s testimony in court.  These cameras have additional benefits such as improving officer safety, as well as, accountability.

The Crandall Police Department focuses on protecting life and property and enforcing laws in a fair and impartial manner.  Recognizing our responsibility to maintain order, while affording dignity and respect to every individual, our objective is to improve the quality of life through a community partnership which promotes safe, secure neighborhoods throughout the city.

The Crandall Police Department is committed to protecting life and property, responding to community needs, and promoting peace through positive interaction within the community.  As the Chief of Police in Crandall, it is my firm belief that community involvement is a key factor in reducing the crime rate and increasing the quality of life within any city.

This fall, the Crandall Police Department will re-introduce the Citizens Police Academy (CPA) to the City of Crandall. The CPA will serve as a catalyst, forming an alliance between the police department and the citizens of Crandall. We will offer classes that cover topics ranging from Texas Penal Code, Criminal Investigations, and Patrol Procedures. There will also be a unique class offered, requiring active class participation involving police scenarios that you will not want to miss. All class participants must be citizens of Crandall, working employees or business owners within the city, or have a child that attends school in Crandall and must complete an application and pass a background check before they are accepted into the class. We look forward to working on a more personal level with all of you as we strive together to promote a safe environment for the families and businesses within our city.

If you or someone you know is interested in the CPA please fill out the application located below.  If you have any questions, please send them to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
